Take the Initiative!
A hallmark of the MBA and MS Finance Fellowship experience is leading and contributing to Strategic Impact Projects (SIPS) initiatives that drive positive community and business outcomes. These experiences also make a lasting impact for the partnering organization, their community members and stakeholders, and the Rowan ecosystem. Initiatives provide a foundation and platform for Fellows to transfer the knowledge, skills, and connections they build into their next career steps.
Fellows have options for the type of Strategic Impact Projects they will pursue. All Fellows have the opportunity to experience a fulfilling and impactful journey by taking a leadership role in a defined initiative with an established RCB partner organization. Some Fellows may opt to design a custom-built SIP. For Fellows looking to drive change in areas outside the scope of our defined partners, we encourage pitching an idea to potentially launch an initiative from the ground up.
The common thread is that Fellowship initiatives respond to crucial social needs while simultaneously addressing business-related issues. To ensure success, Fellows deliberate with an RCB mentor throughout their Fellowship.
We are pleased to share some of the exciting opportunities to make an impact available to MBA and MS Finance Fellows.
Upcoming Projects
Building the Rohrer Business Mentorship Program: Alumni Engagement for Student Career Growth
- The Rohrer College of Business (RCB) at Rowan University is committed to cultivating student success through strong academics, leadership opportunities, project-based learning, and internships. To advance this mission, RCB is launching the Rohrer Business Mentorship Program (RMP)—an initiative designed to connect early career students with alumni and business professionals who can provide guidance on career pathways, graduate school opportunities, and professional development. By fostering a culture of mentorship, networking, and shared learning, the program aims to strengthen alumni engagement while preparing students for their next steps after graduation. Fellows will play a central role in designing and piloting the program to ensure it is impactful, engaging, and sustainable.
- Fellow responsibilities will include:
- researching best practices in mentorship programs at peer institutions and identifying models that can be adapted to RCB’s goals;
- designing a program structure—including one-on-one mentorship, group panels, workshops, and networking events, that balances flexibility with consistency for students and alumni;
- developing recruitment and marketing strategies for both student mentees and alumni mentors, leveraging channels such as LinkedIn, the Rohrer alumni network, and faculty connections;
- creating materials such as promotional flyers, social media content, mentor/mentee guides, event outlines, and survey instruments to support launch and evaluation;
- piloting a mentorship cycle with a small group of students and mentors, collecting feedback, and refining the structure before full implementation; and
- drafting a roadmap for long-term sustainability, including potential collaboration with the Rowan University Alumni Association, opportunities for corporate sponsorship, and strategies for annual events such as a Rohrer Business Mentorship Networking Night.
- Fellow work on this initiative will be primarily virtual, with the opportunity to participate in on-campus events such as a kickoff networking session. The project supervisor will provide guidance, review deliverables, and facilitate conversations with RCB leadership, the Rohrer Alumni Advisory Council, alumni relations, and career services staff as needed.
- This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in student success initiatives, alumni engagement, mentorship program design, professional development strategy, higher education leadership, and sustainable program development.
