STEM Master of Business Administration | Rowan University
STEM MBA at Rowan University
The STEM Master of Business Administration is designed for professionals who want to combine broad business capabilities with sustained quantitative, analytical, and technology-enabled study. The curriculum integrates business strategy with quantitative analysis, financial modeling, information systems, and applied analytics.
The 36-credit program builds on Rowan’s established MBA framework while requiring at least 18 credits of STEM-designated coursework. Students learn within the same graduate business curriculum and from the same RCB faculty as other MBA students while completing the requirements of a distinct STEM-designated degree.
STEM MBA Program Structure
- 18 credits in the MBA Core
- 18 credits in Concentration and elective coursework
- At least 18 total credits of STEM-designated coursework across the MBA Core, a STEM-designated Concentration, and approved electives
Students meet the STEM coursework requirement through one of the following structures:
- Two STEM-designated Concentrations; or
- One STEM-designated Concentration, at least oneadditionalSTEM-designated elective, and up to two additional graduate business electives.
Course availability, prerequisites, Concentration requirements, modality, and advising guidance affect individual course plans.
STEM-Designated Concentrations
STEM-designated Concentrations are available in the following areas:
All three courses in a STEM-designated Concentration must be STEM designated. Review the Academic Catalog and work with an Academic Advisor or Rowan Online Success Coach when building the full 18-credit STEM plan.
How the STEM MBA Differs From Other Rowan MBA Options
The 30-credit and 36-credit options are two structures within Rowan’s MBA program. The STEM MBA is a distinct 36-credit degree with additional STEM-designated coursework requirements. All three are built on the same 18-credit MBA Core, taught by the same RCB faculty, and students often share course sections across the graduate business curriculum.
The distinction is in the degree requirements and how students build specialization and elective study. STEM MBA students complete at least 18 STEM-designated credits, including a STEM-designated Concentration, while the 30-credit and 36-credit options follow the requirements of the MBA program.
Develop Analytical and Technology-Enabled Business Capabilities
The STEM MBA develops capabilities relevant to work involving quantitative analysis, financial and operational data, business intelligence, information systems, technology-enabled decision-making, and evidence-based strategy.
The curriculum also reinforces communication, team leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking so students can connect analytical findings with organizational decisions.
International Students and STEM OPT
Eligible F-1 students who complete a STEM-designated degree may apply for the 24-month STEM Optional Practical Training extension in addition to the standard 12 months of post-completion OPT. This may provide up to 36 months of Optional Practical Training, subject to federal regulations and individual eligibility requirements.
Students should consult Rowan’s International Center for guidance on individual visa and OPT eligibility.
STEM MBA Format and Course Planning
The STEM MBA supports full-time and part-time study. Available delivery formats may include evening classes in Glassboro, asynchronous online courses, and selected courses with scheduled live remote meetings. Course availability and delivery formats vary by term, Concentration, enrollment needs, and advising guidance. For Prospective Students and Applicants
