GRE/GMAT Waiver

GRE and GMAT scores are optional for applicants to Rowan University’s MBA and Master of Science in Finance programs. 

The Rohrer College of Business (RCB) evaluates waiver eligibility automatically as part of the application review process. If you meet at least one published criterion for your intended program, RCB will award the waiver during review. 

You do not need to submit a separate waiver request. 

Applicants who do not meet a waiver criterion may choose to submit a GMAT score of at least 450 or a GRE score to strengthen their application. 

MBA Waiver Criteria

An MBA applicant who meets at least one of the following criteria does not need to submit GRE or GMAT scores: 

  1. Completed the Business Certificate of Graduate Study, Finance Certificate of Graduate Study or Accounting Certificate of Graduate Study with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  2. Graduated from Rowan University, an AACSB-accredited business program or a program with a well-regarded discipline-specific accreditation, such as ABET or CAEP, and meets at least one of the conditions listed below.
  3. Holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
  4. Has been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.
  5. Earned a master’s degree or higher with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from a program with a well-regarded discipline-specific accreditation.
  6. Completed the MCAT, LSAT or a similarly well-regarded standardized examination and was accepted to an institution with a well-regarded discipline-specific accreditation.

For criterion 2, the applicant must meet at least one of the following: 

  • earned a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher; 
  • earned a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher and has at least seven years of professional experience; 
  • has at least 10 years of professional experience. 

Certificate-Based MBA Criterion 

The certificate-based criterion applies only to the Business Certificate of Graduate Study, Finance Certificate of Graduate Study or Accounting Certificate of Graduate Study. Completing another RCB Certificate of Graduate Study does not, by itself, satisfy this criterion.

MS Finance Waiver Criteria 

A Master of Science in Finance applicant who meets at least one of the following criteria does not need to submit GRE or GMAT scores: 

  1. Completed the Finance Certificate of Graduate Study with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  2. Graduated from an AACSB-accredited business program and meets at least one of the conditions listed below.
  3. Holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
  4. Has been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.
  5. Earneda master’s degree or higher with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from a program with a discipline-specific accreditation. 
  6. Completed the MCAT or LSAT and was accepted to an institution with a discipline-specific accreditation.

For criterion 2, the applicant must meet at least one of the following: 

  • earned a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher; 
  • earned a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher and has at least seven years of professional experience; 
  • has at least 10 years of professional experience. 

Professional experience is evaluated by the MS Finance Admissions Committee. 

Certificate-Based MS Finance Criterion 

The certificate-based criterion requires completion of the Finance Certificate of Graduate Study with the required cumulative graduate GPA. Completing three graduate Finance courses outside the completed Finance Certificate of Graduate Study does not satisfy this criterion. 

How the Waiver Is Applied

Complete and submit your application with all required academic, professional and credential information. 

RCB will evaluate your GRE/GMAT waiver eligibility automatically during the application review process. If you meet at least one published criterion for your intended program, RCB will award the waiver. 

You do not need to: 

  • submit a separate waiver form; 
  • email Admissions solely to request the waiver; 
  • obtain waiver approval before beginning your application. 

Admissions may contact you if additional information is needed to verify your eligibility. 

 

Submit GRE or GMAT Scores, if Applicable 

Applicants who decide to submit official GRE or GMAT scores should use Rowan University institutional test-reporting code 2515. 

The testing service may ask for this code when arranging official score delivery to Rowan. 

Applicants who do not meet a waiver criterion may choose to submit a GMAT score of at least 450 or a GRE score to strengthen their application.
