MS in Finance
Program Overview
The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program at Rowan University’s Rohrer College of Business is a rigorous academic experience that combines quantitative techniques with practical and professional application. The Rohrer MS Finance program consists of ten graduate courses (30 s.h.) designed to prepare students for financial analyst and financial planner positions in corporations and financial institutions. Coursework also helps students prepare for the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) exams, the premier certifications in the finance field.
The program's combination of quantitative techniques and practical experience provides in-depth exposure to finance related issues and research. Each course is taught by our highly qualified faculty, who have earned Ph.D. degrees and hold respected national and international reputations. The MS in Finance program is AACSB accredited.
Designed with part-time students in mind, this program is available 100% online with accelerated 8-week courses. When graduate-level Finance courses are offered on campus for MBA students, MS Finance students are welcomed to join those sections.

Foundation Courses
Undergraduate Foundation Courses:
The Rohrer College of Business requires Foundation courses to ensure all students are equipped with key baseline and foundational knowledge needed for undertaking graduate-level coursework in business. During the application process, students’ official transcripts will be reviewed by Admissions to determine which previous coursework counts toward these requirements. Upon acceptance into the MS in Finance program, students will be alerted to which Foundation courses they will need to complete. After students are accepted into the MS in Finance program, they must begin to satisfy any outstanding Foundation requirements as they proceed through the program.
- Calculus: Techniques & Applications
- Statistics I
- Foundations of Accounting OR Principles of Accounting I & II
- Economics Principles of Economics: A Survey OR Microeconomics & Macroeconomics
- Principles of Finance
Typically, students with an undergraduate degree in business will have already satisfied many of these course requirements. As noted, students may begin in the MSF program prior to completing all their Foundation requirements. However, these requirements must be satisfied early in the program to maintain forward momentum towards degree completion. Students may also choose to complete their outstanding Foundation courses before beginning the MSF program if they prefer.
Foundational coursework may be done in a variety of ways, such as by completing equivalent undergraduate courses, noncredit tests, online courses, and/or community college classes.
