Frequently Asked Questions
Is the course offered every semester?
How many times can I take the MBA Supervised Internship course?
Can the Supervised Internship course count towards my MBA Concentration?
While the Supervised Internship course can and does count as a freestanding elective for the MBA program, it cannot be applied toward a specific Concentration. However, students may request for the course to count toward an MBA Concentration if the internship’s industry, area of business, job description, responsibilities and duties are all exceptionally related to the student’s Concentration. To request to apply BUS 01505 to a specific Concentration, submit a detailed explanation of how the internship experience correlates to your Concentration and how the experience would supersede the need for completing your preestablished Concentration curriculum.
Email GraduateBusinessStudies@rowan.edu.
The request isn’t guaranteed to be approved. The decision is at the sole discretion of the Program Director.
I am an international student (on an F-1 student visa). Can I complete the MBA Supervised Internship course?
Yes, international students on F-1 student visas can pursue the MBA Supervised Internship course, including the paid or unpaid internship fieldwork portion of the course. International students must still secure their own internship. Additionally, international students must comply with Rowan University’s Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Policies to be eligible for an internship and the corresponding Supervised Internship course. The CPT application process must be completed in addition to the MBA Supervised Internship course application process detailed on this webpage.
For student visa, I-20 application, or OPT requirements, connect with Rowan's International Center at rowanic@rowan.edu. For admissions process guidance email Rowan's Office of International Admissions at international@rowan.edu (+1 856-256-4747).
Can internships be paid?
Will my internship be graded pass/fail?
What types of internships are acceptable for this course?
Does Rowan help students secure their internship?
While Rowan does not have a formal internship placement process, the university offers many resources to help students find and apply for internships.
Students are urged to use Profs Jobs to search for internships available to graduate-level students. Profs Jobs, an online employment search board, is exclusive to currently enrolled Rowan students and Rowan alumni. It lists full-time and part-time job opportunities as well as available internships. Profs Jobs should not be the only job/internship website used to search for an internship. Other methods for procuring an internship in addition to Profs Jobs might include setting up email announcements/job posts that are delivered directly to your email from trusted jobs listings websites you’ve created profiles and search parameters for, such as Indeed.com, Zip Recruiter, LinkedIn, or many others. Another effective method is to research a specific company you are interested in interning with to inquire about internship opportunities. Students are also encouraged to reach out to their personal network.
The Rohrer Center for Professional Development (RCPD), a career center designated specifically for supporting Rohrer College of Business undergraduate and graduate students, offers around-the-clock career services, such as coaching, resume & cover letter critiques, mock interviews, weekly hiring events with potential employers, and career & internship fairs.
The Rowan Office of Career Advancement, a university-wide career center that serves all students at Rowan, offers similar services to that of the Rohrer Center of Professional Development, but they can also provide additional career insight and opportunities outside of business.
Does RCB offer career development support?
Why should I connect with the Rohrer Center for Professional Development (RCPD) early in my MBA program?
What services does the RCPD offer to MBA students?
The RCPD provides a wide range of services, including:
- Career strategy consultations
- Resume and cover letter development
- LinkedIn profile optimization
- Mock interviews and interview coaching
- Networking workshops and employer events
- Guidance on job search strategies and professional communication
When is the best time to start using RCPD services?
How can international students benefit from working with the RCPD?
International students often need time to adjust to U.S. workplace culture, expectations, and job search processes. The RCPD can help you:
- Understand employer expectations in the U.S.
- Practice effective interviewing techniques
- Build a professional resume and cover letter that align with U.S. standards
- Develop confidence in networking and personal branding
Starting early gives you time to build familiarity and practice in a supportive environment.
How do I make an appointment with the RCPD?
Can the RCPD help me find an internship?
I completed an internship in a previous semester but didn’t know about the Supervised Internship course. Can I enroll in the Supervised Internship course for an upcoming semester and apply my previous internship to the course retroactively?
