The Marketing Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) courses offered by Rowan University’s Rohrer College of Business (RCB):
- will expand your understanding of the internal, external, and group forces that impact how people process information and make decisions;
- will train you to optimize marketing functions for success in different countries and cultures;
- will introduce and/or strengthen your skills in collecting primary and secondary marketing research information;
- will help you analyze consumer data to generate insights for data-informed marketing decisions; and
- are ideal for those who have not yet taken the Graduate Admission Test (GMAT) as the GMAT is not required for admission to the COGS program.
Coursework completed through the Marketing COGS may be applied toward a future Rowan MBA.

The Marketing Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) combines a required introduction to marketing management with elective study in specialized areas. Students can tailor the certificate by selecting courses in consumer analysis, marketing research, digital marketing communications and promotion, international marketing, and emerging or advanced marketing topics.
Expertise in marketing is needed across every sector of business, from nonprofit to corporate to government, to education, art, science, culture, sports and entertainment, to supply chain, and more.

Curriculum
Explore the science behind data-informed marketing decisions, how consumers form attitudes, make decisions, and behave, and what drives consumers to value products and services. Develop expertise in collecting primary and secondary research and interpreting customer data. Gain insights on cultural, legal, economic, and political perspectives for responsive and effective marketing within an internationalized economy.
The Marketing Certificate of Graduate Study is a part-time, online program requiring 10.5 graduate credits. Students complete one required 1.5-credit course and select three 3-credit elective courses.

Note: To allow for some flexibility and exploration of emerging topics in business, academic departments may choose to run special topics courses in place of the below standard offerings for this COGS. The below courses for this COGS are typically offered each year, but might be distributed across semesters, so students should expect that it will take more than one semester to complete all coursework. Course availability varies by term, and not every elective may be offered each year. Students should work with an academic advisor to select three electives and develop a course sequence based on available offerings. Typically, one course for this COGS is offered each Fall and Spring semester, with the potential for a Summer semester course offering.
Foundation Courses
Rohrer College of Business requires Foundation courses to ensure all students are equipped with key baseline and foundational knowledge needed for undertaking graduate-level coursework in business. During the application review process, students’ official transcripts are evaluated to determine which previous coursework counts toward these requirements. Upon acceptance into the Marketing COGS, students will be alerted to which Foundation courses they will need to complete. After students are accepted, they must begin to satisfy any outstanding Foundation requirements as they proceed through the program.

There are many ways students can satisfy Foundation requirements: equivalent courses from their undergraduate studies, affordable online modules, noncredit tests, online or face-to-face courses at a local community college or four-year institution, and online or face-to-face courses at Rowan University. Coursework: Required Course and Elective Options
For Marketing COGS students who later decide to pursue an MBA: the required course, MKT 09511, is part of the MBA core, while eligible 3-credit elective courses may be applied toward the MBA Marketing Concentration or other MBA elective requirements. MKT 09511: Marketing Management Fundamentals
MKT 09511 - Marketing Management Fundamentals (1.5 credits)
- Focusing on the coordination of the marketing function with other organizational functions within an organization, the course provides a broad overview of the management of the marketing function and the creation of marketing strategies intended to create and maintain competitive advantage.

MKT 09501: Consumer Analysis
MKT 09501 - Consumer Analysis (3 credits)
- Students will conduct detailed analyses of consumer and/or business markets. After examining a range of conceptual materials and research methodologies, they will apply these insights to the analysis of actual decision-making situations by means of case studies and/or independent research projects.
MKT 09502: Marketing Research
MKT 09502 - Marketing Research (3 credits)
- Contemporary marketing decisions are based on marketing research information. This course will help students develop a managerial perspective on the use of marketing research information in making decisions, as well as specific research skills and practical experiences that will enhance their career advancement. The skills covered in this course are applicable to marketing problems encountered in both consumer and business-to-business markets. Students will experience a project-based learning approach, applying marketing research tools and methods to identify and solve specific marketing problems.
MKT 09503: Digital Marketing Communications and Promotion
- This course explores the principles, strategies, and evolving practices of digital marketing in a dynamic business environment. Students will analyze and examine emerging trends and evaluate the effectiveness of various digital marketing approaches. Through case studies, research, and applied projects, students will develop critical-thinking skills and strategic insights to navigate the digital marketing landscape. Emphasis will be placed on data-driven decision-making, the role of emerging technologies such as AI, and the integration of digital marketing into overall business strategy.
MKT 09599: Special Topics in Marketing
- Students will study advanced-level topics in marketing. The exact topics to be covered will change over time. Contact the Marketing Department for details.
MKT 09600: International Marketing
MKT 09600 – International Marketing (3 credits)
- Students will examine all issues facing marketing managers in the light of the unique challenges posed by the internationalization of the economy. The cultural, economic, political, and legal environment will be examined. Market research in world markets, the planning and development of consumer and industrial products, promotion, pricing and distribution will also be analyzed.

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for a Certificate of Graduate Study in Marketing. Further action or materials may be required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below, a representative from Rowan's Admissions Office will contact you with confirmation or to indicate any missing items.

- Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
- Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
- Current professional resume
- Typewritten statement of professional objectives
