ADD in Finance Support for Transfer Students
ADD in Finance Support for Transfer Students
Thinking About Transferring to Rowan University to Pursue the 4+1 in Finance?
This page will help you understand how transfer students can plan for the Accelerated Dual Degree in Finance.
This page offers support and early planning guidance for transfer students interested in pursuing an Accelerated Dual Degree (ADD) in Finance (often called a 4+1).
If you are already a Rowan University student, and are interested in the ADD in Finance, please visit the Planning for an ADD in Finance page for step-by-step guidance.
What Is the BS to MS Accelerated Dual Degree in Finance?
Complete your Bachelor of Science in Finance (BSF) and Master of Science in Finance (MSF) at a significant reduction in tuition cost and time.
By taking 4 graduate Finance courses in place of 4 undergraduate Finance courses, students save about $14,000 in tuition and shave a year off the time it would typically take to earn an MSF.
Transfer students can successfully take advantage of the 4+1 in Finance pathway. With early planning, they can stay on track toward their bachelor’s while getting ahead on their master’s.

Rowan University is a transfer-friendly school.
Whether you're planning to transfer from a community college, a four-year institution, or from military training, we're here to help you on your journey.
Wondering How Many Credits Will Transfer?
Check out Rowan University’s transfer tool at Go.Rowan.edu/TREQ. The Transfer Equivalency Self-Service (TREQ) allows you to enter your coursework and AP test scores from other institutions to learn how they articulate to Rowan coursework and degree requirements.
New Jersey’s Transfer Programs Tool is another helpful resource for students planning to transfer coursework from a New Jersey community college. Visit New Jersey Transfer at https://njtransfer.org/ to use the tool to identify potential course equivalencies before applying.
Please note: While NJ Transfer is a valuable planning tool, students should still work with an Academic Advisor from Rowan to confirm which courses will apply toward their degree requirements.
What Else Do I Need to Know to Make a Smooth Transition into the ADD in Finance Program?
For the ADD in Finance program, transfer students first apply to Rowan’s Bachelor of Science in Finance.
From there, students follow the same pathway into the Accelerated Dual Degree program as Rowan University BSF majors.
BSF majors apply to the BSF to MSF in Finance after earning 60 credits toward the Finance major. To explore the same pathway you’ll take after becoming a Rowan student, visit our Planning for an ADD in Finance page. Stay on this page to learn more about admission and prerequisite requirements for the BSF.
Applying to the BSF: GPA Requirement
A 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA is required for acceptance into the BS in Finance.
Prerequisites for the BS in Finance
Students are expected to complete the following prerequisites with a 3.0 or higher before being formally admitted to the BS in Finance major:
- Calculus I (Applied Calculus)
- Statistics I
These prerequisite courses will help you build the quantitative and problem-solving skills you’ll need throughout the accelerated pathway. Completing these courses before entering the program will also ensure you are prepared for the pace and rigor of advanced Finance classes.
You should plan to complete the prerequisites at your current institution. However, you may still apply to Rowan if you have not completed the prerequisites. Please note: completing the prerequisites with a 3.0 or higher will strengthen your application.
Missing a Prerequisite Course?
You may still apply and potentially be accepted at Rowan with a conditional admission status.
If you are completing the prerequisite courses when you apply, once accepted with a conditional admission status, you’ll submit your final transcript before enrollment.
If you have not yet taken the prerequisites you can apply and be accepted with a pre-business conditional admissions status and then take them at Rowan. You will be formally admitted after completing the prerequisites and then move into your BS Finance major via internal transfer.
