Planning an RCB ADD/4+1 as a Transfer Student
Transfer students are welcome to explore Rowan’s approved bachelor’s-to-master’s Accelerated Dual Degree pathways, commonly known as 4+1 programs.
A transfer student may be able to complete 12 approved graduate credits during undergraduate study and apply those credits toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Whether the full pathway fits depends on transfer timing, how accepted credits apply to the bachelor’s degree, remaining prerequisites and major requirements, academic eligibility, and whether the undergraduate plan has room for the shared graduate credits.

What Determines Whether an ADD/4+1 Pathway Will Fit?
The total number of credits accepted by Rowan is only one part of the review. A course may transfer successfully without satisfying the particular major requirement, prerequisite, or elective space needed for an ADD/4+1 plan.
A pathway-specific review should consider:
- how accepted coursework applies to the intended bachelor’s degree;
- which major, general education, and university requirements remain;
- whether Foundation and prerequisite courses have been completed;
- whether the required grades have been earned;
- whether prerequisite sequences can be completed in the correct order;
- whether the undergraduate plan has room for 12 shared graduate credits;
- when the student will become eligible for graduate coursework; and
- whether the remaining sequence works with course scheduling and availability.

How Transfer Timing Affects Your Options
Transfer students arrive with different numbers of credits, prerequisite backgrounds, and remaining degree requirements. These timing patterns provide general planning guidance, not guarantees.
Transferring During the First or Second Year
Students transferring earlier in the bachelor’s degree typically have the greatest flexibility to complete pathway prerequisites, preserve appropriate requirement or elective space, enter the ADD at the intended point, and complete all 12 shared graduate credits during undergraduate study.
Early transfer does not automatically establish eligibility, but it usually gives students and advisors more options when developing the academic plan.
Transferring Near the Beginning of the Third Year
The full pathway may still fit, but the student will need a careful review of accepted-credit application, remaining major requirements, Foundation or prerequisite preparation, upper-level course sequencing, and the planned placement of the four graduate courses.
A written academic sequence is especially important at this stage.
Transferring Later in the Bachelor’s Degree
Students transferring with substantial progress toward the bachelor’s degree may have less room for the complete 12-credit ADD structure.
A large number of accepted credits can leave fewer undergraduate requirements or electives that can be fulfilled through shared graduate coursework. Prerequisite timing may also prevent the student from becoming eligible for graduate courses soon enough.
When the complete ADD does not fit, students may still have other ways to begin graduate business study.

Each approved pathway has a different undergraduate curriculum and preparation sequence. Shared transfer tools cannot determine whether every program requirement will fit.B.S. in Finance/M.S. in Finance ADD/4+1
Transfer students interested in Finance should plan carefully for Calculus and Statistics, Accounting, Economics, Principles of Finance, M.S. in Finance Foundation-waiver grades, admission or progression into the B.S. in Finance, upper-level Finance prerequisite sequencing, and room for four graduate Finance courses.

B.A. in Environmental and Sustainability Studies/MBA ADD/4+1
Planning should consider remaining Environmental and Sustainability Studies requirements, MBA Foundation requirements, elective or requirement space for the shared MBA credits, and the timing of upper-level undergraduate and graduate coursework.

When Another Graduate Route May Fit Better
An ADD/4+1 is not the only route into graduate business study.Senior Privilege
Senior Privilege may allow an eligible fourth-year Rowan undergraduate to begin limited graduate business coursework when the complete 12-credit ADD structure does not fit. It is separate from ADD participation, is space available, and does not recreate the full accelerated pathway.
Graduate Study After the Bachelor’s Degree
Students may complete the bachelor’s degree and later apply to an MBA or M.S. in Finance through the standard graduate admission process. This may be the stronger route when prerequisites cannot be completed in time, the undergraduate plan does not have room for 12 shared credits, or another pace better supports the student’s goals.
