Rohrer College of Business - AACSB
The William G. Rohrer College of Business is accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate level by the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which is the highest accrediting body for business colleges in the world. Less than ten percent of business programs in the world achieve this standard of excellence. This means that our faculty, curriculum, and all other educational resources are thoroughly and professionally evaluated by an independent board of educators and have been found to be of exceptional quality.
Rohrer College of Business (RCB) is proud to be a part of achieving AACSB’s mission to foster engagement, accelerate innovation, and amplify impact in business education.
Why is AACSB Accreditation important to a business school?
AACSB Accreditation ensures a school is providing its students with a challenging, relevant education that prepares them for the business world.
In order to earn and sustain business accreditation, an institution must align with a set of 15 business accreditation standards that focus on mission and strategic management; support for students, faculty, and staff; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement of students and faculty.
The accreditation process is a rigorous process that ensures business schools are delivering the best in business education. When schools display the AACSB Accreditation seal, it sends a signal to the world that graduates and alumni from their institution are prepared to lead in today’s competitive, global business environment.
Why does AACSB Accreditation matter to students?
AACSB Accreditation gives students a competitive edge – they get a rigorous, relevant education that prepares them for successful careers. And it ensures them more opportunities; many major companies report that they recruit exclusively at AACSB-accredited institutions for interns and employees. AACSB-accredited schools:
- are recognized worldwide by top employers and other universities
- have employers that only hire their graduates
- have more access to recruiters
- have graduates that receive higher, more competitive salaries
- have students that are more international and are likely to earn higher levels of education
- have students with high-graduating GPAs
- are challenging and teach the best skills that give graduates a distinct advantage.
What is the difference between an AACSB-accredited program and a non-AACSB-accredited program?
AACSB sets the highest standards for business schools to ensure graduates have the career preparation they need to lead in a successful business career. We continually hold our members accountable with a thorough accreditation process, as well as a regular continuous improvement review process.
AACSB Accreditation is known, worldwide, as the longest standing, most recognized form of specialized/professional accreditation an institution and its business programs can earn.
Only the best business schools in the world have earned AACSB Accreditation. They are forward-thinking, innovative, and acutely aware of the challenges facing business today. They consistently deliver on their promise to prepare the next generation of leaders.
AACSB leads the business education industry through quality assurance, business education intelligence, the sharing of best practices globally, and professional development services.
AACSB Accreditation ensures relevancy and currency through active engagement with the business or accounting community and the demand for qualified faculty who are experts in their field. Business schools must be active participants in research; they must be engaged with industry, and have an effective plan for assuring student learning outcomes.
What is the history behind AACSB's recognized honor society?
Beta Gamma Sigma, established in 1919, is the only scholastic honor society recognized by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. In 1921, Beta Gamma Sigma amended its constitution to restrict the installation of new chapters to collegiate schools of business which are accredited members of AACSB International.
ABET (Computing Accreditation Commission)
The Information Systems & Analytics (ISA) program in the Rohrer College of Business is accredited by ABET in the area of computing accreditation. Fewer than 40 business schools hold both AACSB and ABET accreditation. ABET accreditation is the highest standard for computing proof that a collegiate program has met standards essential to produce graduates ready to enter the critical fields of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. Graduates from an ABET-accredited program have a solid educational foundation and are capable of leading the way in innovation, emerging technologies, and in anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.
