Biography

Dr. Zane earned his BS in Management of Information Systems from Rowan University, his Ph.D. in Organization and Strategy from Drexel University, and he has over twenty years of industry experience, including management positions in both large and small businesses and founding a startup. Dr. Zane teaches various classes in Management and  Entrepreneurship, such as Managing International Business, Business Policy, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Corporate Entrepreneurship, New Venture Development, and Small Business Management. He also taught four cohorts of a summer Veterans Entrepreneurship Training program at a prior institution.

His research focuses on strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship (both individual entrepreneurs and their ventures) via the lens of social networks, resources, strategy, and cognition. He has published fifteen journal articles and five book chapters and has been part of twenty-six conference presentations.

Prior to academia, Dr. Zane was the founder and president of Zane & Associates, Inc., a software development company that developed a line of trust and estate accounting and tax products. Zane later sold the business to a division of Thomson, where he worked for two years as a director, overseeing the transition. He taught at Rider University from 2010-2018, giving up tenure to return to Rowan University in the Fall of 2018. He is also Vice-president of Bork, a metal fabrication business.

On a personal side, Dr. Zane is married and has three daughters, two grandchildren, two cats, and a dog. He and his wife love hiking, canoeing, spending time with family, and relaxing at the beach (Ocean City, NJ). He is experimenting with a backyard greenhouse and is a big Eagles fan!
