Richard H. Jonsen, Ph.D.

Biography
Richard H. Jonsen, Ph.D., transitioned to higher education in 2009 following a 19-year career as a human resource management leader in the consumer electronics, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries. Immediately preceding his career turn into higher education, Dr. Jonsen was a Director of Talent Acquisition for Fortune 50 human healthcare company headquartered in the United States. There he served in a variety of human resource management roles with responsibilities in both the United States and Scotland, developing change management, talent acquisition, and people development strategies with leaders at all levels of the organization.
Dr. Jonsen was recognized as a credible and compassionate leader throughout his commercial career, building high-performing teams that consistently beat industry benchmarks for process and cost efficiency. He brought this experience to the undergraduate management classroom in 2009, joining the Rohrer College of Business in 2019.
He received his undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University, his master’s degree from the University of San Francisco, and Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Eastern University (Saint Davids, PA). Dr. Jonsen’s research and writing interests include workplace community experiences, strategic human resource management, and sustainability, including social justice.
