Recruiting event showcases caliber of RCB students
What do RCB accounting and finance students offer prospective employers?
Area recruiters gathered to find out at the Accounting and Finance Program’s Recruiting Roundtable in July.
Hosted in the Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia, the event showcased the talents and skillsets of RCB’s students. The roundtable was the brainchild of Leonard Gatti, chair of the Recruitment Committee of the Accounting Advisory Board, who is senior financial advisor for Comcast Corp.
Speakers highlighted the program’s advantages; invited attendees to the September Accounting, Finance and MIS Expo; and touted the education and experience of more than 1,000 students in the program. Presenters included Dean Sue Lehrman; Dr. Stephanie Weidman, professor and head of the Accounting and Finance Department; Jerry Maginnis, accounting executive in residence; Amie Ryno, manager of the Rohrer Center for Professional Development; and Ray Jewusiak, senior manager at KPMG. Students Jessica Pratt, Bill Sikora and Xzavier Montgomery and alumni John Villarante, ’19, and Dan Errera, ’12, discussed the strengths of the program and the value of their RCB degrees.
Eighteen professionals representing 13 organizations attended the meeting.
“We had a great cross-section of stakeholders and they were very enthusiastic,” Weidman said.
After lunch, participants were invited to tour the new building and view “The Power of I” in the Universal Sphere, Comcast’s 360-degree dome theater.
Weidman praised the Accounting Advisory Board for its engagement, as well as Gatti and Comcast for hosting the roundtable. “They pulled out all of the stops to present this event,” she said.
