Biography

Dr. Ayishat Omar holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and an M.B.A. from Morgan State University, along with a B.Sc. in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She is a Certified Public Accountant. Dr. Omar teaches accounting courses, including Intermediate Accounting I and II, and has received the Rohrer College of Business Professor of the Year Award, Accounting and Finance. Her research focuses on corporate governance and financial reporting, with publications in journals like the Journal of Information Systems, International Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Corporate Accounting & Finance, and Accounting Research Journal, amongst others. Notably, her work on the impact of IT outsourcing on financial disclosures was used by the U.S. SEC in support of its rule-making. She has presented her research at different academic conferences. Before academia, she gained valuable experience in the banking sector. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
