Why an MBA Concentration in Data Analytics?

The Data Analytics Concentration focuses on the architecture and analytical methods behind reliable, decision-ready information, including the management, integration, mining, quality, and visualization of data.
Concentration Details
Requirement: 9 credits; complete the two required Data Analytics courses and one approved option. For the STEM MBA, DS 02510 is the required third course.
The concentration pairs required study in database design and data warehousing and business intelligence with one advanced analytical option. The structure connects the organization and integration of data with more advanced methods for analyzing or communicating it.

MIS 02540 – Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence (STEM*)
This course covers the concepts, principles, and tools of data warehousing technology as a component and function of Business Intelligence. It explores how to solve business problems by using an organization’s data to gain new insights into its operations. Additionally, it introduces the approaches, roles, and responsibilities associated with the design and implementation of a data warehouse. This course leverages a portfolio of SQL Server tools for hands-on experience in implementing a solution through assignments, lab exercises, and projects.
Prerequisite: MIS 02538 Database Design.

This course studies data quality problems and solutions in the context of text and web mining, which is the exploration of vast amounts of digitized text for use in knowledge discovery or more particularly drug discovery in the biomedical field.
