Bachelor of Science in Finance

The mission of the finance program is to provide students with challenging career-oriented undergraduate and graduate preparation needed to be successful in finance careers and to pursue graduate studies.

Finance career opportunities may be sought in such areas as financial analysis, cash management,credit analysis, pension and investment fund management, capital budgeting analysis, investment and commercial banking, and securities management.

The Finance Mentorship Program develops a process that connects finance students with Rowan alumni currently working in the finance field. The students gain a greater understanding of the finance field, particularly in terms of career and educational options, while the mentors reconnect with the university and serve as a positive role model.

The Finance major requirements provide students with a broad understanding of financial theory and institutions. The program prepares students for a variety of career opportunities within financial institutions, governmental agencies and private industry.

Certificate Programs

In addition to the Bachelor of Science degree, the Rohrer College of Business offers several certificate programs finance majors may be interested in.  The Certificate of Undergraduate Studies: Global Business will provide students with a broader understanding of the impact of a global economic environment on business functions.  Students will have a thorough understanding of the interdependencies between the functional/skill area of business when working in a global market.

Student Organizations

Beta Alpha Psi, an honor society for Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems students, is currently a petitioning chapter at Rowan University.  The organization is 12 months into an 18 month petitioning period.  For more information, contact President: Bill Sikora or Advisor: Jerry Maginnis.


The Finance internship course includes finance field experience in government, industry, or non-profit organizations. Trainees are given assignments that prepare them for productive employment upon graduation and in many cases, become employees of these firms. The learning process is monitored by a Finance faculty member to ensure successful transition from the classroom to the career environment.
