Bachelor of Science in Accounting

The strength of the Accounting Degree Requirements is in the emphasis on practical and theoretical content to help students prepare for ethical participation in various accounting careers, including careers in professional accounting and financial management. The program also prepares students for graduate studies in accounting, taxation and business.

The Accounting Program at Rowan University's Rohrer College of Business has been ranked the #3 accounting program in the state of New Jersey by the Accounting Degree Review. The purpose of Accounting Degree Review's Top 10 Undergraduate Accounting Program rankings is to highlight the merits of selected institutions and the opportunities afforded to prospective students.

The Accounting Advisory Board provides an external perspective on curricular development and advises on emerging trends in the practice and development of accounting.

The Accounting Mentorship Program provides a mechanism by which students can obtain a better understanding of the challenges and rewards of Accounting from those presently working as accounting professionals.

Undergraduate accounting graduates will have a strong foundation for obtaining professional licensure by the completion of the 120 credit hour program. They have the option of meeting the 150 credit hour educational requirements for licensure as certified public accountants through the Rowan MBA program, as well as the Certificate Programs for Graduate Studies. The accounting specialization within the Rowan MBA Program is designed to equip students of diverse academic backgrounds with foundational knowledge and advanced topics in accounting.

Certificate Programs

In addition to the Bachelor of Science degree, the Rohrer College of Business offers several certificate programs to accounting students.  Undergraduates may choose to take part in the Certificate of Undergraduate Studies (CUGS) in Forensics and Fraud Investigations or the CUGS in Business Analytics, as well as several other certificate programs.  Graduate students are given the opportunity to complete the Accounting Certificate of Graduate Studies or Accounting Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies.

Student Organizations

Students who study accounting can participate in the Accounting Society, a group devoted to informing students about the accounting profession, as well as helping students expand their social/professional networks. For more information contact President: Jaden Sinondon or Advisor: Robert Scarpa 

Beta Alpha Psi, an honor society for Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems students, is currently a petitioning chapter at Rowan University.  The organization is 12 months into an 18 month petitioning period.  For more information, contact President: Bill Sikora or Advisor: Jerry Maginnis.


The Supervised Internship in Accounting course includes career related experience in government, industry, or non-profit organizations. Students are given assignments that prepare them for productive employment upon graduation and in many cases, become employees of these firms. The learning process is monitored by an accounting faculty member to ensure successful transition from the classroom to the career environment.

The Accounting and Finance Department hosts several events every year to facilitate growth and success among its students.  Several of the yearly events and activities include:
