MBA/MSA
MBA/MSA
MBA/MSA Degree Overview—Coming Fall 2024
The MBA/MS in Accounting Accelerated Pathway is intended for students who want to pursue both the Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting concurrently or successively. The MBA typically requires 36 credits (4 x 1.5-credit courses, 10 x 3-credit courses) while the MS in Accounting requires 30 credits (10 x 3-credit courses). The MBA/MSA accelerated pathway allows the sharing of up to 5 courses to satisfy the requirements of both degrees. The MBA/MSA pathway requires 51 credits (4 x 1.5-credit courses, 15 x 3-credit courses)* in total and can be completed at the student’s desired pace through various course formats.
Alumni that have completed an MBA in Finance or MS Accounting at Rowan University who are interested in a potential “accelerated pathway” to pursue an additional graduate business degree may transfer up to 15 credits (5 x 3-credit courses) from their first graduate business degree into the second. For those that have completed an advanced graduate business degree at another AACSB-accredited business school, they may transfer up to 9 credits (3 x 3-credit courses) from their first graduate business degree into the second.
Rowan University’s Rohrer College of Business is expanding its offerings to include a Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree where students can develop specialized accounting skills and knowledge for careers in a stable and steadily growing industry. The career prospects are plentiful and financially fulfilling. Students in this program will be required to complete 30 credits in a flexible environment that will prepare them for a lifetime in an industry with unlimited potential for individual growth and learning.
*We anticipate the proposed program to be fully and formally launched starting in the Fall 2024 semester.

Candidate Logistics
- Ultimately, candidates must formally apply to and be accepted by both programs:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) and
- Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) programs at Rowan University
- However, students should apply to their primary program of choice first, and then apply to the second program in a subsequent semester (e.g., in their second year of studies in the first program).
- Typically, one degree is completed prior to beginning coursework within the other degree, but this is not required. Your Academic Advisor will guide you in course planning to meet your goals.
- Students must complete all Foundation Course (undergraduate) credits prior to beginning MBA or MSA graduate-level work that requires these Foundations as pre-requisites; see the Graduate Business Program Foundation Fact Sheet for options on satisfying these requirements.
Flexible Schedule and Delivery
- MBA/MSA Accelerated Pathway students can choose from course format options including:
- On main campus in Glassboro (Fall and Spring)
- Online (Fall, Spring, and Summer)
- Formats and courses offered will vary by year and semester, so students will work with the Office of Graduate Business Programs to select an optimal schedule based on preferences and availability.
Streamlined Application Process
- If you have not yet started either the MBA or MSA:
- Apply to the MBA or MSA (whichever is the primary program of interest) using the Rowan Global Application Form
- To officially add the secondary program of interest to your student record, please follow one of the below two options:
- Option 1: Upon admission to the primary program, email the Graduate Business Programs Academic Advisor at GraduateBusinessStudies@rowan.edu to determine the best timing and process to add the second program to your records.
- Option 2: In the semester following your admission to the primary program, or in the future, submit an application for the secondary program using the Rowan Global Application Form.
- Waived application components for second program: Application, transcripts, and letters of recommendation. Depending upon primary program and timing, it is possible to also waive the statement of purpose for the second program application.
- Email Tendai Vengesa, our Admissions Counselor for assistance, as many application materials can be shared between both applications.
