New Venture Competition

The Rohrer New Venture Competition encourages students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and develop high-growth businesses. The competition aims to prepare students for future entrepreneurship efforts and provide an opportunity for participants to win cash prizes for their venture.

How to Participate

Regardless of your discipline, the competition provides opportunities for you or your team to develop the deliverables required for competing.

Structure

The competition is phased and requires students or student teams to submit various deliverables. A summary of each phase is below.

Phase 1 - Intent to Compete:  Each student and each team member registers and provides a brief summary of the business idea.

The following links will help you prepare your Executive Summary:

Phase 2 - Feasibility Analysis: Teams are required to submit a study on the viability of the business concept. Industry-based judges will evaluate the feasibility studies and select semifinalist to move onto the next phase. 

Phase 3 - Business Plan Phase: Teams submit a business plan and provide a presentation to industry leaders. Five finalists and three alternates will be selected to move onto the final phase and present to a panel of executives for the following prizes.

The Top 5 Finalists Will Compete For The Following Prizes:

1st Place: $4,000
2nd Place: $2,000
3rd Place: $1,000
Honorable Mentions (2): $250

Resources

The following resources are available to all competition participants to help them complete each phase. Workshops are offered prior to the due dates of the feasibility study and final business plan. Faculty and staff will be available to provide guidance for written feasibility and business plans. Additional online resources and sample plans are also available.
